Hear how Mary has grown to accept herself—including the part of her that wants her pigment back.
Music track throughout.
MARY: I do believe it's possible to love myself and want to repigment my skin.
SUPER: Deeper Reflections
SUPER: My Treatment Journey
MARY: Me having a great experience at the beginning with my dermatologist helped me learn that I wasn’t alone in that process.
SUPER: Mary, 29
MARY: She understood that I was confused, I didn’t know what I was—what I had, what vitiligo was. And so, being able to ground the conversations was so important because I was young, right? And so I understood differently and being able to understand what she was telling me really helped her become someone that I really appreciated.
A dermatologist relationship should look like full communication, transparency, and honesty.
It’s important to set expectations for treatment because it gives hope.
There's a misconception that if you treat yourself, you don't really love yourself. If in the process my spots do repigment, that’s great.
I think it’s still really cool to be able to find things that work for you and help repigmentation. It’s always something that I’ve looked forward to.
Some words of advice: Keep trying. Don’t give up.
I'm Mary, and I'm ready to take a deeper look at my vitiligo.
SUPER: Partner with your dermatologist to stay informed and build a treatment plan.
SUPER: Go Ahead. Look Deeper.
